Loan Shark
A Lower-Levels mortgage offer that the Mentor warns against: 100% yearly interest, 14 weekly payments, repossession if you miss.
First meeting
“Hello friend!”
Site narration
The Loan Shark offers a mortgage on the store for the Lower Levels, whom the Upper Levels banks will not lend to. The terms are the ones the Mentor underlines: interest far above a bank's, paid back weekly. Miss a payment and the store is taken.
What is recorded
Site narration
- ConfirmedIntro: Upper Levels banks do not offer loans to Lower Levels people (too risky) but 'we' will offer a mortgage to purchase the store, interest a bit higher. Will visit again on Sundays once the player has 5000 Credits.
- ConfirmedThe offer names the property's value, the down payment they negotiated with the Landlord themselves, 100 percent yearly interest, and weekly repayment over 14 weeks. Miss a payment and they take the store.
- ConfirmedMentor explicitly underlined 'Do not take any shark loan'.
- ConfirmedA separate First Bank loan clerk from the Upper Levels offers 20 percent down (8000 Credits) on a 40000 listing at 75 percent yearly interest — a different speaker from the shark.
