Guide
Appraisal & counterfeits
Everything a customer can put on the counter is either worth what the label says or worth a lot less. This is the printed procedure: which book to open, what one magnifying glass is enough to prove, and how the value sheets actually add up.
The procedure
Four steps, always in this order. Each one carries the interface wording the game itself uses.
Open the guidebook for that item
Appraisal items are sold with a printed guide. The book — not your own guess — sets the starting figure and the floor that the price can never fall below.
- Appraisal Item
- Condition
- Plasma Cartridge Appraisal Guide
From the game’s own wording · Appraisal Service
Some valuable items marked as [Appraisal Item] have complex price structures. Customers will visit the Store and use your appraisal service to determine the value of their item. You will receive a base service fee for the appraisal, plus a bonus based on the precision of the appraisal. You will be able to pass appraisal examinations and receive a certification that will improve your base service fee and unlock new item types to appraise.
Magnifying Glass → one real issue
Use the Magnifying Glass on an inspectable item to open the Inspection Tray. For a counterfeit, a single confirmed issue is enough to confront the client; a wrong accusation costs reputation and can lose the sale.

- Can be inspected with a Magnifying Glass
From the game’s own wording · Mentor's Note: Visual Inspection
Certain items will be marked as inspectable using a Magnifying Glass. Use the Magnifying Glass on an inspectable item to open the Inspection Tray. If there's an issue with the item, you can select a reason at the bottom of the Inspection Tray UI to confront the client about it. If the item is counterfeit, one issue is enough to confront the client. If you are right, the client will adjust the price. If you are wrong, you will lose Reputation and the client may take their business elsewhere.

Relabel only if you accept the catch risk
Workers, Security officers and Lower Level citizens know the common frauds. Scavengers rarely carry test equipment. Tourists and Upper Level buyers are less aware — but people do find out.

From the game’s own wording · Mentor's Note: Item Labels
Certain items can be relabeled. For example, you can label a counterfeit box of cigarettes as genuine to raise its price. Beware — most workers, Security Officers, and Lower Level citizens are familiar with common item fraud. Scam attempts will fail and result in a penalty to your Reputation. While Scavengers are also familiar with item fraud, they often don't carry the equipment required to test for authenticity, if any is needed. Tourists and Upper Level citizens, however, are generally less aware. But sooner or later, people will find out.

Value sheets
Every appraisal guide prints its own sheet. The figures below are copied from what the books print — nothing is inferred.
Plasma Cartridge
Printed sheet from the in-game Plasma Cartridge Appraisal Guide. Manufacturer and plasma grade are matched against the cartridge's own marks.
A compact, solid-state fuel cartridge used in Pulse Plasma Drives for space travel. Value varies wildly depending on the quality of the cartridge.

Packaged Rib Sandwich
The Ribwich sheet is the most branch-heavy of the printed guides: production run, packing facility and build all move the number.
A shelf stable limited edition sandwich consists of a restructured boneless pork patty shaped like a miniature rack of ribs. It has a cult following
| Factor | Adjustment |
|---|---|
| Starting value | 150 |
| Packaging missing, torn or counterfeit | 40 (floor) |
| First production run, Jan 425 – Dec 429 | +80 |

| Deluxe (sesame bun AND extra pickles) | +300 |
| Double patty | +800 |
Facility codes outside the printed lists, or a missing Davre logo, mean the item is counterfeit. There are 35 packing facilities. The second production run additionally needs a Ribwich sticker.
Food Stamp
Food Stamps are issued only in fixed denominations.

The [Label] prefix marks a line whose price comes from the label rather than from the thing itself.
Where it goes wrong
Three things that get remembered
- One confirmed issue is enough. Confronting a client with a wrong reason costs reputation.
- Workers, Security officers and Lower Level citizens know the common frauds before you open your mouth.
- Several guides carry a hard floor: plasma 30 · cybernetic hand 50 · ribwich 40. No haggle goes below it.
Still open
The following points are not backed well enough yet, so they are recorded here rather than stated as fact above.
Not yet settled
- The cybernetic-hand book names material and control deltas, but not every number behind them.
- One speaker reports that Augs never inspect relabelled goods. Nobody has reproduced it.
- How much mislabelled Ghostwater counts as the offence named in the water manual.
