Steps, in order

Unlock Retired Winemaker

Network node Retired Winemaker: immediately receive a Winemaking Starter Kit; a retired winemaker visits the next day and then once a week selling supplies (unlocks winemaking). A guide video starts the kit by calling Joe Wild; it states credits and Wild favor are 1:1 and the kit costs 200 favor/credits on that fresh save.

Grade BloomBerries

Berry quality is the most important factor. One handful is enough for lower-grade wine; two handfuls for high-grade. Avoid overripe, underripe, or moldy. Best berries are usually smaller than normal. Identification labels: Normal, Underripe, Moldy, Small. BloomBerry flavour: good for making wine.

Identifying BloomBerry grade uses the Magnifying Glass. A wine guide says wine-making without it will be worse because you cannot grade berries.

Fill bottle: water + berries + yeast

BloomBerry Wine Fermenting Guide: recipe is water + berries + optional yeast + time. Water: use High Quality Water or Base Water; Pure Water lacks minerals needed for fermentation; lower grades greatly reduce quality.

A guide video fills a wine bottle from a Sealed Water Ration; the bottle then shows 750 ml of water. The ration item itself is 750 ml of Basewater.

Standard yeast is optional but highly recommended. Without it, wild yeast from the air ferments instead (inconsistent). Standard yeast also greatly accelerates fermentation. Item flavour: Yeast speeds fermentation and improves brew quality. Super Yeast dramatically speeds fermentation. Yeast Bioreactor is an infinite source; it returns to inventory when fermentation starts instead of being consumed. Synthetic Yeast is illegal, replaces yeast, needs only water, and produces mildly carcinogenic wine (GloomBerry Wine).

Wine Bottle is a fancy glass bottle with an integrated airlock used for fermenting wine.

Start fermenting and wait

Wine bottle UI: an ingredient slot, Start Fermenting, and a running count of the days until the ferment finishes. Not enough ingredients or not enough water blocks the start. The ageing tooltip shows the age iseveral days.

One guide video times fermentation as: no yeast 4 days; standard yeast or Yeast Bioreactor 2 days; Super Yeast 1 day. Super Yeast is called 'quick yeast' in that caption. The same clip says you cannot rush a stated 2-day ferment below 2 days except by using the faster yeast.

Read the tier, then age

Wine condition strings, from the bottom tier up: Undrinkable, Bucket Brew, Homebrew, Production Wine, Reserve, Master Vintage.

Aging tooltip: this item will gain value as it ages. AgeWell accelerates aging of Wine and Cheese by an extra day each cycle. A guide: AgeWell will not accept still-fermenting bottles; only finished wine; it adds one day of age per night; turbo booster can force a cycle.

A playthrough made Reserve with high-quality water, a worse wine with low-quality water, and Undrinkable from bad berries; the Undrinkable could be dumped to keep the bottle.

Where it goes wrong

Site narration

  • Do not ferment with Pure Water (missing minerals) or with water worse than Basewater.
  • Moldy / underripe berries are called out as bad inputs.
  • Synthetic Yeast + water only yields GloomBerry Wine (cheap, mildly carcinogenic, illegal substance).
  • AgeWell does not shorten fermentation; only ages finished bottles.

Still open

  • Complete recipe table for all six tiers (only one author's examples).
